After winning the 1996 Drivers World Championship Damon Hill drove for the newly re-formed Arrows Yamaha team in 1997.
The car was disastrously unreliable but suddenly at the Hungarian Grand Prix he led the race and looked like a surprise winner. But on the last lap hydraulic problems caused him to be caught by Canadian Jacques Villeneuve in his Williams who went onto the grass as he overtook to leave Damon with second place.
